I’ve been browsing on the internet lately for my car insurance. I was a bit disappointed though when I found about from different websites that there’s a lot of cheap car insurance for women. Don’t you think it unfair for men?

I will try not to sound a bit biased Kenneth, but gender sometimes does play a significant role in car insurance rates. The reason why there’s a lot of cheap car insurance for women is because statistically, women drivers are tagged to be more conscientious. Between the two genders, men tend to have a higher number of serious accidents. This is because they drive faster since they usually own powerful vehicles like race cars, muscle cars and the like. Such vehicles have expensive parts to replace if they are damaged or stolen. Men, who know they have a powerful car engine, often try to challenge it and get pulled over by the police for driving too fast on a more frequent basis.

Another reason why companies offer cheap car insurance for women is explainable by a woman’s wary nature. Women are generally more vigilant and even overcautious at times. They rarely do reckless acts on a road. Before driving a car, barely many women have alcoholic drinks. Some studies have also confirmed that men are more easily distracted than women. This causes their attention from being taken from the road while driving. Unlike men, female drivers do not need to assert themselves by speeding as a way to show off.

As a result of fewer accidents; women make fewer claims on a car insurance coverage which makes it advantageous for insurance companies. In this sense, cheaper car insurance somehow serves as a reward for careful and competent driving. This can be an incentive for poor drivers to improve their skills and perhaps in the future; will help men and women to get discounts. But in the meantime, insurers offer cheap car insurance for women because they can afford all those reductions.
