I am required to maintain SR-22 insurance for 2 years in Texas. I was able to get cheap SR-22 insurance online. Now what I would like to know is what will happen if I failed to maintain my SR-22 insurance for a period of two years? If I don’t need the SR-22 insurance anymore what should I do?

It’s a must that you maintain your SR-22 insurance for a specified period of time and in your case it’s for two years. If you let your insurance coverage lapse then it means that the cheap SR-22 insurance that you got is no longer valid. When this happens, your auto insurance company will notify your state about the lapse on your coverage. Your SR-22 insurance coverage will be cancelled. If you failed to get another cheap SR-22 insurance as a replacement, then your vehicle registration and tags may again be suspended.
As to your second question, if you no longer need your SR-22 insurance, then you don’t have to do anything. Your auto insurance company knows on how long you should maintain your SR-22 insurance and once it’s over then you will see a change on your car insurance premiums by the time you renew your policy.
But if you are uncomfortable about doing nothing regarding the status of SR-22 insurance then you can always contact your auto insurance agent in Texas to make sure that your records are updated. I wish you the best while maintaining your SR-22 insurance.
